Ben Rinenbach is a fine art photographer/visual artist based in San Diego, California. He prides himself on his handmade presentations utilizing unconventional mounting methods and wall displays. His photographs can be vaguely summarized as 'desert and coastal noir'. His presentations have been described as 'maximal minimal'. Ben takes great inspiration from Edward Curtis, John Ford, Ansel Adams and Sergio Leone.
Ben is a relative newcomer to the art scene, having entered his first art show in the fall of 2021. He has quickly gained recognition in Southern California for his unique presentations and long exposure photographs. At his most recent show, "ARTSandiego' he was awarded 'best solo exhibitor'.
Ben spent his early years living a predominately left brain existence, as a skateboarder, a gymnast, secretly writing poems as an Army infantryman, various jobs in the construction industry, and most recently 12 years as a firefighter/paramedic. A spinal fusion and a drunken late night camera purchase on eBay changed his path forever.
Ben is open for commission work and is perpetually available for a beer and a shot at the local tap.
ARTISTS STATEMENT:
My work is a never ending journey for patience, proportion and perspective. I look to quiet a chaotic mind through my photographs and through the creation of my hand made presentations. My process marries my passions for visual art and modern design, and is an open invitation to the viewer to join me in my study of time, light and scale. In the end, my aim is to share whatever scraps of peace I have managed to cobble together with anyone who cares to look. Thanks for helping me live my dream, dear friends. Please take care of, and be kind to one another out there 🖤
with love,
Ben
