This photograph was taken on a gloomy winter morning at Torrey Pines State Beach.  The marine layer was heavy and the surf was rough.  I set up for a 4 minute long exposure which mellowed the waves and melted them into the surrounding fog.  Long exposures also serve to slow me down, and force me to live in the scene for at least a brief few minutes.  

I'm very proud of this piece as it is completely handmade. The build process is labor intensive on these.  I feel as though I am more invested into my photographs than some other artists as I spent a great number of hours creating them with my own hands.   

This build is comprised of a fine art paper print (printed on Moab Pearlescent paper).  The print is then face mounted to a slab of 3/4" cast acrylic which is hand cut and polished.  This block containing the image is then mounted onto a sheet of 1/2" acrylic.  This larger piece (36x36")has been painted Benjamin Moore 'simply white' on the back side for a very unique presentation on the front.  I then frosted the edges and bond it to a piece of sealed birch wood for a 1/2" float mount off of the wall.  The piece comes ready to hang utilizing the included z-bar hanging system.
